VOVOX® sound conductors are hand-assembledin Switzerland. The cables, including the solder, are lead-free.

Our pronounced goal is the perfecttransmission of sound signals. To achieve this aim, the cable, but also theconnectors, must fulfil our requirements. Since most phone plugs available onthe market are designed with only their mechanical properties in mind, we useour own VOVOX® phone plugs:  A ¼"phone plug offering both first class functionality and first class sound.

Straightor angled ¼" phone plugs?

 

Especially in the case of instrumentcables, we suggest carefully choosing the kind of connector that suits youbest: Using a 90° right angle plug will often reduce the mechanical stress onthe instrument as well as on the cable. Like this it contributes to longerservice life of both, cable and jack. For acoustic guitars, angled plugs areusually the better choice.

 

High-gradeconductor material

 

The selection of the right conductormaterial is crucial for the sound. The basis of VOVOX® link sound conductors issilver-plated solid-core conductors made from oxygen-free high purity SPOFHCcopper. Because silver has an even better conductivity than copper, the currentdensity is additionally enhanced in the important surface boundary.

 

Verylow capacitance

 

It is impossible to judge the quality of aninstrument cable just based on its capacitance. Nevertheless, to have a lowcapacitance is a precondition for a cable to transmit the whole frequencyrange. VOVOX® link protect A has a very low capacitance of only 90 pF/m.

 

Ultra-purepolymers

 

VOVOX® link sound conductors are coveredwith two layers of high-tech polymer. Although plastics are not directlyinvolved in the signal transmission, they do have an effect on the soundquality. VOVOX doesn't use any PVC. Only ultra-pure plastics withoutplasticizers are used. Even the use of colour pigments is avoided.

 

Additionalconductor for ground

 

The conductors within a cable must fulfilseveral functions. The shield has the main function of protecting the signalconductor from interference. In most cables, the shield is also used as thereturn signal conductor. VOVOX® consequently separates these functions. Thismay be a more complex construction, yet it results clearly in better soundquality.

 

Optimalprotection from microphonic noise

 

When a guitar cable is moved or stepped on,small electrical signals are created due to the change of the capacitance ordue to electrostatic charges. This effect is called microphonic. It creates adisturbing crackling noise. Usually this phenomenon is avoided with the help ofconductive plastics. Howevery, like this also sound quality is negativelyaffected. We have found our own technique to solve the problem of microphonicnoise using natural materials - without compromizing sound quality.
